I went to the OB/Gyn today, took some blood to check my hormone levels. Which, now I think about over the past week I have had my blood drawn 4 times, yucky! Just call me the guinea pig. All symptoms point to me having PCOS. The doctor prescribed me Metformin and Progesterone, to which I began taking today. Hopefully, Aunt Flo will cooperate and come within the next week and that I will ovulate. She also told me to lose about 20 to 30 lbs., this will help get me healthier for pregnancy and get a hold of my cholesterol issues. Here I come eating healthy! WOOO! I did however not have any cereal for breakfast this entire week and I feel a lot more energized and better. I opted to have more eggs and fruit, protein based bars, and the such for breakfast. Sugary Cereals spells death for women with PCOS I guess :P I recently found a friend through the
http://mormon.org/ website, that too struggles with PCOS in my area. It is nice to ask her questions and she gives me so much information, which I absolutely love honest she is. The more I know, the more I can prepare and tell this syndrome who's boss.
I was supposed to go out to Tempe today to work in the photo lab on my project for photo class, but since I have started the Metformin for the first time in two years I think that I am gonna stay home and catch up on my homework. It makes my stomach feel icky to say the least. My digital prints that I have been doing are turning out great! I am on Flickr if you want to check me out here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/anniepersons. I love taking photos, but not so much the chemical-stinky-science part of it. However, it is fun to see how far I have come in the past couple months with my work.
And that is about it...until next week.
Annie! I hope that you can get your health under control. I am so sorry to hear about all this. You can do it! xoxo -Andrea :)
ReplyDeleteAndrea,
ReplyDeleteI hope this too! It turns out that I do have PCOS, it makes it harder to lose weight and get pregnant but it can be done. Thanks for the encouragement.
Much love,
Annie
